Country Profiles and Comparisons (CPC) Database

Access free and publicly available data from established international data sources

The American Institutes for Research (AIR) has compiled a collection of development indicators related to international assessment, population, economy, education expenditure, education system, and government in the Country Profiles and Comparisons (CPC) database. The CPC database can be used to explore a host of indicators for more than 80 countries or subnational education systems that participated in the most recent administration of one or more of the following international large-scale assessments:

• PIAAC: Program for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies
• PIRLS: Progress in International Reading Literacy Study
• PISA: Program for International Student Assessment
• TIMSS: Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study

The CPC can be a valuable resource for researchers, policymakers, journalists, teachers, students, and the general public. It is useful for learning more about countries, comparing country characteristics, and, in particular, gaining a better understanding of the country context of student and adult performance and skills in reading literacy, mathematics, problem solving, and other key competency areas.

There are two ways to search and view the CPC database:

1. View Selected Indicators for All Countries
   
   Make country comparisons by selecting up to three indicators at a time to view across all countries and subnational education systems.


2. View All Indicators for the United States and Selected Countries
   
   Produce country profiles by selecting up to two countries or subnational education systems at a time to view along with the United States across all indicators.
