View Selected Indicators for All Countries
Using the CPC database, make country comparisons by selecting up to three indicators at a time to view across more than 80 countries and subnational education systems. The indicators are grouped into six categories: International Assessment, Population, Economy, Education Expenditure, Education System, and Government. Before selecting an indicator from the dropdown list, click on one of these categories (“International Assessment” is the default category). Press "Submit" to see the complete results.
Answer questions such as:
- Which countries have the highest GDP per capita and spend the most money on education, and do these countries tend to score among the highest on international assessments?
- How does average class size vary by country, and do countries with small or large class sizes tend to be low or high performing on international assessments?
- At the lower secondary level, how do U.S. teachers compare to teachers in other countries with respect to their salaries, reports of overall job satisfaction, and perception that the teaching profession is valued in society?
- Which countries award the highest percentage of bachelor’s degrees in STEM fields, and are these also some of the highest performing countries in mathematics and science?
Helpful Tips
For indicators with numerical data, countries can be sorted from high to low or low to high. Although up to three indicators can be viewed at a time, countries can be sorted on only one indicator. Click on an indicator header once to sort from high to low, and click on the header again to sort from low to high. Be advised that the sorting function does not account for standard errors, which are applicable for some estimates, and thus may not be appropriate for ranking purposes.
Each country name is a clickable link to the “View All Indicators for the United States and Selected Countries” page, with that country as one of the selected systems for generating a country profile.
A qualifying note on a particular data point can be viewed by hovering over "Note" when it appears, and a dash denotes that data are not available in the original source.
